Partnerships in our Native Plant Communities

2023-2024

Our 2023-2024 program was focused on native plants and their contributions to healthy ecosystems. Our hope with this theme is to propagate a diverse community of plant enthusiasts, gardeners, landscapers, scientists, and more—all working together for the Treasure Coast’s greater good!

This years art work was completed by Mark Vander Vinne and features two native varieties of cocoplum encompassing the broad range of Florida’s ecosystems. The coastal-growing “Horizontal” variety is low-growing, spreading and salt-tolerant. Its creeping branches root where they touch the ground, so it is a good plant for dune stabilization and to help prevent erosion. This design features the horizontal cocoplum in a beachy setting. The inland-growing “Red tip” and “Green tip” varieties grow in a more upright form and are not salt-tolerant. This design features the red tip cocoplum in a pine stand.
